Fall Newsletter - 2015

Posted on September 29, 2015

elizabeth_weller_4.jpgWe hope fall's arrival has brought bountiful harvests for everyone. Here at CNG, we are happy to see a number of projects coming to fruition.

Read on to get the full skinny on these happenings: We launched our new website, announced our new CNG Ambassador program, and helped a bunch of farms get logos and videos. Meanwhle, we continue to welcome new members: 97 farmers and beekeepers completed their CNG certification over the past three months!

New CNG Website

We've introduced  interactive features that will help expand our community and involve more people in the work we do. Please share this website and help spread the word about CNG! Our new address is CNGfarming.org, but you can still get here from the other web addresses we have published in the past, such as naturallygrown.org and CertifiedNaturallyGrown.org.

Important note to people who have applied to CNG: You can login to your certification account on certain pages of the website with a navy blue band across the top. These are the pages that pertain to the listing of CNG certified farms - such as "Find CNG Farms" or any farm's profile, as well as the CNG Store. Just click "Log In" from within the blue band.

Updates on New Certification Programs

After more than a year of working with our Aquaponics Advisory Council, we have posted the draft CNG standards for Aquaponic producers, and we request comments from the public until October 12. We encourage you to provide your feedback, whether you bring the perspective of an aquaponics producer, a soil-based farmer, a researcher, or a good food eater - we want to hear from you! Read more on the CNG blog.

We continue our work to develop mushroom standards with our Mushroom Advisory Council. We anticipate they'll be ready for public review by early December. To be sure you're notified of new developments, just sign up on our mushroom page: CNGfarming.org/mushrooms.

Ambassador Program

Our brand new CNG Ambassador Program is designed to help us reach more farmers and food eaters. Qualified applicants will be selected to represent CNG at conferences and events. Ambassadors will be provided with training in how to accurately represent CNG, and in many cases, some or all of the cost of attending conferences will be covered by CNG. Learn more and apply on our Ambassador page here

Stand Out in Your Field - Marketing for Farmers

jennings_play.png

Last year we launched a new project to support farmers' marketing efforts. We awarded free logo design services, or the production of a marketing video to qualified applicants. The results are amazing! To receive notice when we post the videos and share the new logos, be sure to sign up on our Marketing for Farmers website - Stand Out In Your Field. You'll want to see these shining examples of some key elements of farm marketing.

We will announce another round of applications this fall! If you need a new logo or marketing video, be sure to sign up for updates.

Meanwhile, be sure to take advantage of the marketing lessons and shining examples at Stand Out in Your Field. Your farm needs good marketing in order to make the most of all your hard work!

Welcome to New Members: A whopping 97 in three months!

We welcome these farmers and beekeepers who have recently completed all the requirements to be Certified Naturally Grown. Find out if there any new CNG producers in your neighborhood on our searchable map here

We are growing! In just three months we have welcomed another 97 new CNG members who have completed all the steps to certification. By far the most new members came to CNG from Georgia - 20! - followed by Virginia with 9, another 7 from Pennsylvania, with Michigan and Arkansas both sending 6 new members our way. We welcome all our new members, and offer an especially warm welcome to the pioneers in states where CNG producers are scarce and ecological farming is much less common, states like Kansas, Louisiana, and South Dakota.

Find our 97 newest members listed below. All CNG producers are listed on our website. Want to get on this map? Find out how to join CNG, and apply online today
