One of CNG's newest members, the West Broad Market Garden, will be hosting a tour of their garden and sharing some hot cider. They have done a fantastic job transforming the old West Broad Elementary school yard into an intensively farmed plot of land.
We will meet at the garden (1573 W. Broad St.) after the locally grown pick-up at 4:15.
Fenwick Broyard, the community garden organizer, will give a tour of the farm and cover the following topics:
- Cultivation and agricultural practices
- Farmer Training Program
- Produce Stand
- CSA Sponsorship Program
- Community Composting Effort
- Status and plans for the Young Urban Farmer (Y.U.F.) Development Project
- Lessons learned, both from a community and agricultural perspective

West Broad Market Garden Background Information
The West Broad Market Garden is a 1/2 acre production-oriented urban farm established on the playground of the now vacant, and historic, former West Broad School. The site currently supports a farmer training program, a youth career development project, a community composting program, a CSA program and a bi-weekly produce stand; and, with the recently secured financial support of the USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program will, starting in the Spring of 2013, play host to a small business incubator Farmers Market.
