Conference Season is Underway

Screen_Shot_2017-01-24_at_12.23.22_PM.pngIt’s conference season, so we’re busy stuffing our carryons with as many handbooks, bumper stickers, temporary tattoos, and CNG tshirts as we can! For many farmers in the north, the winter months aren’t just for seed ordering and hibernating, it’s for networking and sustainable agriculture conferences.

CNG director Alice Varon says, “conferences are a great opportunity to reconnect with members and introduce more people to CNG.”

Earlier this month, Alice presented with two CNG members at the Future Harvest CASA conference in Hyattsville, MD. “Our CNG presenters were great!” she said. “I presented on the history of CNG, and what's involved in getting certified, they presented on how they got involved in CNG, and what they valued about being certified. Their presentations really filled out the picture nicely for the members of the audience."

It’s becoming a larger trend for CNG farmers to present at food and farm conferences in their local regions. We’re proud to have CNG represented by members at three more conferences coming up--they’ll be at the West Virginia Small Farms Conference (Jennie Kahly of Possum Tail Farm and Hana Yoder of Savage River Farm), the Maine Federation of Farmers Markets Convention (by Hamony Dillaway of 47 Daisies), and the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (Lee and Jennifer Ruff).

This week, we’ll be at is Southern SAWG, which is in Lexington, KY from January 24-28

Conferences are a great opportunity to meet fellow CNG farmers and attend inspirational and educational workshops. Please write us an email at [email protected] if you'd like to volunteer as a CNG ambassador at an upcoming event.

At many of the conferences listed below, we'll plan informal gatherings over lunch or dinner for current CNG members. It's a rare opportunity for us to meet face-to-face, and it's often the highlight of the event!

This year, our table will be well-stocked with CNG T Shirts, caps, bumper stickers, and of course, temporary CNG tattoos. You can’t miss us--we’re usually the most colorful table at the conference!

Here’s a complete list of our conference schedule this winter. CNG staff will be at the conferences marked with a star
