PROGRAMS COORDINATOR

The Programs Coordinator will support the development and administration of CNG’s educational and networking initiatives. They will regularly interact with other CNG staff members and farmers in carrying out their work. The core responsibilities of this position are seasonal, with greater hours during the late fall, winter and early spring months. Additional projects may be identified for the summer months to maintain a baseline number of hours, depending on the candidate’s interests and skills. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have strong communication skills, a background in farming, and an ability to facilitate online gatherings of farmers. 

CNG staff work remotely and collaborate regularly via video conference, therefore candidates must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently. Work is to be done primarily during regular business hours, though there is flexibility with scheduling. This is currently a part-time position of 10-18 hours per week. Candidates have the option to apply for another part time position as a Social Media Coordinator, and should indicate their availability and preference when completing the application form.

Position Responsibilities

  • Organizing Remote Observed Inspections (ROI) including scheduling, correspondence with prospective participants and registrants, tech checks, and other logistics
  • Organizing Trainings for Senior Remote Inspectors (SRIs) including screening for qualified participants, correspondence with registrants, and other logistics
  • Assist with organizing other educational and networking events
  • Assistance with other initiatives as needed and desired

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in and familiarity with diversified organic farming practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to connect and relate to people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to
    • give consistent attention to details
    • work independently and as part of a team
    • multitask on administrative and programmatic details
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is self-directed while also being able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities for completing detailed administrative, outreach and communications tasks

Desirable Skills and Qualifications 

  • Multiple years of farming experience, including on a CNG farm
  • Experience conducting or observing a CNG peer-review inspection
  • Professional experience developing educational and/or training programs
  • Creative strategic thinker with an inclination to suggest new and improved approaches to our work
  • Prior experience in a grassroots organization serving farmers committed to ecological practices

Compensation

  •  $20/hour to start

SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

The Social Media Coordinator will create and distribute original content across multiple social media platforms, employing and enhancing the CNG brand. The goal of this position is to increase awareness and understanding of our work, as well as to foster stronger connections within our community, and give national recognition to the farmers who participate. The ideal candidate will be able to review an organization’s online presence, and quickly understand the current gaps, opportunities, and ways forward to increase engagement, followers, and social value. Staying up to date on - and employing - the current best practices across social media platforms is also an expectation of the position. 

CNG staff work remotely and collaborate regularly via video call and phone, therefore candidates must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently. This is currently a part-time position of 5-10 hours per week. Work hours are flexible.  Candidates have the option to apply for another part time position as a Programs Coordinator, and should indicate their availability and preference when completing the application form

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain a social media calendar, and generate content that’s consistently engaging and reflects the spirit and values of the organization
  • Stay up to date with best practices on social media platforms
  • Contribute to strategizing discussions about outreach and promotion of our events and educational offerings
  • Help to identify performance metrics and then adopt, revise, continue, and/or discontinue particular practices based on outcomes
  • Pitch strategies to increase our social media presence and engagement

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated talent for visual storytelling and engagement on social media
  • Ability to give consistent careful attention to details, to prioritize multiple expectations, and to be well-organized
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Facility using all major social media platforms, including for strategic campaigns and to build awareness and community
  • At least one year’s experience working in a farming-related context 
  • College degree or equivalent experience 
  • Reliable access to an appropriate workspace with stable, strong internet and phone service

Desirable Skills and Qualifications 

  • 2+ years professional experience in marketing, communications and/or branding
  • Multiple years of farming experience, including on a CNG farm
  • Demonstrated success with increasing engagement in a grassroots initiative
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite, graphic design and illustration
  • Proficiency in video editing
  • Creative strategic thinker with an inclination to suggest new and improved approaches to our work
  • Prior experience in a grassroots organization serving farmers committed to ecological practices
